Sony has finally released the update for the PS5 which allows you to expand the 825GB built into the console. Using the M.2 SSD slot allows you to download and run games directly off the expansion SSD just like you would on the console storage. Due to the superfast read and write speeds required to run PS5 games, Sony has specific minimum requirements for the M.2 SSD you can use:

Whilst the size and storage sizes are easy to find, only a handful are available that meet the minimum speed requirements. The SSDs are available with and without a heatsink, I would strongly recommend using a heatsink on the SSD to prevent any issues further down the line. The heatsink can either be purchased already attached to the SSD or you can save quite a bit of money and buy the SSD and attach the heatsink to it yourself with a third-party heatsink.
